That said, when Grand Rapids residents talk about undesirable jobs, the conversation typically centers on low-paying retail jobs, high-turnover manufacturing positions, and employers that have earned reputations for burnout, stressful conditions, or poor management.
Some of the jobs most commonly viewed as difficult or undesirable in the Grand Rapids area include positions at understaffed healthcare and senior living facilities, entry-level manufacturing jobs with high turnover, low-paying retail and food service roles, and corporate or tech positions where employees face frequent layoffs or ongoing job uncertainty.

In a recent discussion on the Grand Rapids subreddit, locals shared their picks for the worst jobs to have in the area. Here are some of the workplaces and positions that came up most often.
