(FOX40.COM) — A man was sentenced to decades in prison Tuesday morning for a standoff with Sacramento deputies, a SWAT team and crisis negotiators—during which the trigger-happy defendant fired at officers more than 20 times.
The case began when residents called 911 to report gunshots coming from the 48-year-old Daniel Murphy’s home in March 2023. The Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office arrived to hear more gunshots coming from the home and called in SWAT and crisis negotiators for additional help, according to a news release from the Sacramento District Attorney’s Office.
