ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — Rochester’s last remaining cobblestone house is being offered for $1 to a qualified buyer willing to undertake an extensive restoration of the historic property.
The Lockwood-Alhart House, located at 1090 Culver Road, was built around 1835 for Roswell Lockwood by stonemason Alonzo Bradley. An addition was completed in 1905.
The Rochester Land Bank said the severely deteriorated property presents an opportunity to preserve a structure with cultural and architectural significance. The city previously saved the house from demolition.
Because of the building’s structural condition, prospective buyers will not be permitted to inspect the interior. Applicants must instead rely on photographs and descriptions included in an independent architectural assessment. Exterior inspections will be allowed…
