Texans everywhere dread the news that a beloved smokehouse is closing its doors. Luckily, this upcoming closure is temporary and sounds like it’ll go toward bigger and better service as summer turns into fall.
Franklin Barbecue, the No. 1 barbecue joint in Texas according to Southern Living, shared in a social media update that the Austin staple will be closing for 10 days in the middle of August. It’s something Franklin Barbecue does every year as it recovers from long days serving hungry Texans during the summer.
“Austin summers are no joke, and neither is the work our crew puts in day in and day out,” Franklin Barbecue wrote on Facebook. “So every year around this time, we do what we’ve always done. We close the doors for 10 days, put out the fires and give our team a real vacation.”
That means Franklin Barbecue will be closed for business starting on August 10 and lasting through August 20. Folks can start lining up for the brand’s famous brisket the next day, August 21, to get an early start on the weekend…
