BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) – East Baton Rouge Schools issued a statement to staff Tuesday asking employees to “remain calm” and “avoid speculation” amid a newspaper report that Superintendent LaMont Cole is allegedly being investigated by a state grand jury.
The report detailing the investigation and Cole’s possible involvement was first published Tuesday morning by The Advocate newspaper.
A district spokesperson sent the statement to school staff after WAFB contacted Cole seeking comment. Cole has not responded.
What the statement says
The statement, addressed to “EBR Family,” did not name Cole or reference the investigation directly. It acknowledged that staff may have “seen or heard recent reports” and said the district’s focus “remains on what matters most.”…
