LINCOLN–(KFOR July 28)–Some of you may have been awakened by the high winds and wind-driven torrential rain that rolled through the Lincoln metro area early Tuesday morning.
It did prompt a severe thunderstorm warning to be issued during the 2am hour that lasted until 3am Tuesday, which then transitioned to a flash flood warning that was set to expire at 7am Tuesday, before it was called off one hour earlier. A wind gust of 58 mph was reported just before 2:30am at the Lincoln Airport and the official rain measurement there listed the rainfall amount as 1.46 inches. Other parts of Lincoln saw anywhere from two to three inches.
Lincoln Police confirmed to KFOR News that a water rescue happened when rainfall quickly accumulated at 12th and “O” Street in downtown Lincoln, where LFR and LPD assisted a driver stranded in a vehicle caught up in the rapidly rising water. No one was hurt…
