LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — Nearly 400,000 Southern Nevadans are food insecure this year, an increase of more than 20,000 people from last year, according to Feeding America’s 2026 Map the Meal Gap study.
The report found that approximately 397,750 people — or 16.6% of Southern Nevada’s population — are food insecure. That figure represents one in six residents across the region.
Children among those most affected
The report found that 117,560 children in Southern Nevada live in food-insecure households, representing one in four children across the region.
Across Three Square Food Bank’s service area — which includes Clark, Lincoln, Nye and Esmeralda counties — the food insecurity rate increased to 16.6%, up from 15.8% last year.
Millions of meals missed each year
Additional findings from the study show Clark County accounts for 97% of the total food-insecure population in Southern Nevada. Food-insecure residents miss approximately 75.5 million meals each year, or an average of 6.3 meals each week…
