‘Scary moment’: Witness describes meeting man accused of bringing explosives on train

A Boston man accused of bringing homemade explosive devices onto an MBTA Commuter Rail train remained jailed Tuesday after returning to court on charges stemming from a June incident that prosecutors said could have ended far differently if passengers had not spoken up.

Authorities alleged that 29-year-old Shane Cautillo made alarming statements about bombs, weapons and extremist groups while riding a train from Newburyport, Massachusetts, to Boston on June 27.
