First Alert declared on Wednesday due to high heat and risk of severe storms

GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB) – The NWS has issued an EXTREME HEAT WATCH for NCFL on Wednesday, July 29th, in effect until 8 PM.

With high humidity in place, heat indices will soar into the triple digits, peaking at 107-115 for most.

Additionally, there is a risk for isolated strong-to-severe storms across the area as a front drops in from the north.

Any storms that develop will have plenty of fuel to feed off of, as the heat and humidity build throughout the day…
