The little critic has a very busy life, which means we have a very busy life. It’s been so busy that we haven’t even gone out for our summertime favorite, ice cream.
After dropping the little critic off at bible school, we had some free time to ourselves. We drove a few blocks down the road and pulled into the back lot of a several local businesses to find an ice cream trailer from Hangry Bear Craft Creamery.
Hangry Bear Craft Creamery
This ice cream comes from Kennett Square but has a trailer along the 1200 block of E. Main St. in Annville. The menu consists of creative blends of ice cream flavors with creative names. A few of the combinations are truly unique. In addition to the hard ice cream, they also offer root beer floats, milkshakes, and sundaes.
For our selection today, we got the Flight (four baby scoops) with Bonnie’s Bourbon Peach Cobbler, Funky Monkey, Mom’s, and Strawberry Rhubarb Shortcake ($6.50). We also got a Milkshake ($6.75) made with Bonnie’s Bourbon Peach Cobbler.
It was hard to settle on four flavors. We lucked out that no one was waiting behind us and we got a lot of samples. The ice cream is very creamy with a subtle flavor and chunks of ingredients. For us, the bourbon peach cobbler was the best of the flavor we got. Although, the banana coconut cream pie had a surprisingly pleasant taste.
Our take: The ice cream here is really creamy and comes in a wide variety of flavor combinations. The flavor names add a little fun and the way the menu is posted tells us that the flavors change from time to time. They offer free samples of any flavor to find the one for you. When the weather is nice, it’s a nice spot to grab a cold sweet treat. Just don’t tell the little critic we went for ice cream without her!…
