$15K stolen from Nashville woman with disability in identity theft case

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — A Davidson County resident is in jail after allegedly stealing the identity of a woman with an intellectual disability, costing her over $15,400 in social security benefits.

The Tennessee Highway Patrol Criminal Investigation Unit began the investigation in April and identified Crystal Michelle Akridge, 39, as the suspect.

According to court documents, Akridge intentionally used the woman’s personal information without permission at a downtown Nashville driver service center in 2021.
