1 seriously injured after Spectrum utility vehicle strikes pedestrian during storms

BUNCOMBE COUNTY, N.C. (WLOS) — One person was seriously injured after being struck by a Spectrum utility vehicle in the aftermath of severe storms Tuesday, July 28.

A spokesperson with the North Carolina State Highway Patrol said troopers were called to Riceville Road near Reed Road just before 7:30 p.m. for a crash involving a pedestrian.

According to troopers, severe storms downed a tree in the roadway, blocking traffic. A group of people was working to clear the tree amid heavy rain when a Spectrum utility vehicle topped the hillcrest and was unable to stop before striking one of the individuals in the road…
