A 14-year-old dog rescued from Harbison State Forest during a severe thunderstorm has become an unlikely local celebrity, and is also helping spread an important message about pet safety.
On the night of July 15, iShip&Pack (4508 St. Andrews Road) owners Cole and Aliyah Barefoot found an elderly dog wandering alone in Harbison State Forest during one of the strongest thunderstorms of the year. The dog was soaked, underweight, injured and in obvious need of medical attention.
The Barefoots transported the dog to CVETS (Columbia Veterinary Emergency Trauma and Specialty), where veterinarians determined he was deaf and suffering from a severe ear infection…
