Music industry is sweet $278.2 million tune to Huntsville’s ears

Huntsville may be known as the Rocket City, but music is proving to be an economic driver in Alabama’s largest city.

According to the results of the 2026 Huntsville Music Audit conducted by global music consultancy Sound Diplomacy, the music industry is responsible for 3,047 jobs representing 2.8% of the city’s employment and growing. It has generated $278.2 million in total economic output.

“Without a strong creative economy, we can’t compete for talent on a global stage,” Mayor Tommy Battle said at a press conference at Mars Music Hall at the Von Braun Center. “This updated audit shows that our investment in the music community is doing exactly what we set up for it to do: attract, retain the best and the brightest.”…
