Huntsville’s new 125,000 sq. ft. middle school gets OK, plans to open in 2028

The Huntsville Planning Commission approved plans for the new Huntsville Middle School at its meeting on Tuesday.

The new school south of Lowe Ave SE and west of California Street will replace Huntsville Junior High School. Huntsville Junior High School only serves seventh and eighth graders, while the middle school will also serve sixth graders as well.

Frank Nola, representing Archemy Architecture & Design, told the Planning Commission the new school will have the capacity for 750 students, but said plans for the 125,000-square-foot facility do allow for future expansion…
