Georgia woman accused of conspiring to scam Lancaster County resident out of $10,000

LANCASTER, Pa. — A Georgia woman is facing charges after police say she conspired to steal $10,000 from a Lancaster County resident through an alleged phone scam.

Dawonna Cheron Anderson, 46, of Decatur, GA, was charged on July 14 with Dealing in Proceeds of Unlawful Activity and Theft by Deception following an investigation by Manheim Township Police.

According to police, alleged scam occurred in January, when the victim was contacted by a man claiming to be a member of the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office. The caller told the victim they had an active arrest warrant for missing jury duty and needed to pay a $12,000 “bond” in order to “clear their name,” police claim…
