Council approves Ventana Shopping Center

The Fontana City Council approved amendments to the Ventana Specific Plan to allow for a 98,783-square-foot shopping center near the southwest corner of Duncan Canyon Road and John Previti Avenue. The approval clears the way for the commercial center while amending the Ventana Specific Plan to allow gas stations and drive-throughs in Planning Area 4, where those uses were previously prohibited.

“This project was recommended for approval by the Planning Commission back on June 16, 2026,” Associate Planner Cecily Session-Goins said. “Now, we’re moving towards approval.”

Before appearing before the city council, the Fontana Planning Commission reviewed an amendment to the Ventana Specific Plan and approved it in a unanimous vote. As previously reported in the Fontana Herald News, the shopping center will include a 57,185-square-foot grocery store, approximately 36,340 square feet of retail shops, a restaurant, gas station, convenience store and two additional drive-through businesses on its 11.5- acre project site.
