Watertown, N.Y. — A man has been passing counterfeit $100 bills at Dollar General stores in the North Country and Central New York, according to State Police.
The man used the fake bills in an attempt to buy online gift cards in Jefferson and Oswego counties, according to Jennifer Jiron, a spokesperson for the State Police.
On Saturday, the man went to a Dollar General store at 28525 Route 3 in Black River, Jefferson County and asked an employee to load $500 onto an online gift card account, Jiron said. He gave the store employee five $100 bills, she said…
