MANLIUS, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) — A student support contractor faces charges who worked with children at a Central New York school district was arrested on allegations he had inappropriate electronic communications with a minor he was mentoring.
The Town of Manlius Police Department said in a statement that at about 6 p.m. on Monday, July 27, officers arrested 33-year-old Edward “Dillion” Reed after investigating alleged inappropriate electronic messages between Reed and a minor.
Reed mentored the child while serving as a contracted school social-emotional learning interventionist. The student recognized the inappropriate nature of Reed’s messages, cut contact and told their parents, who reached out to police,. Reed, from Syracuse, was charged with:
- Second-degree disseminating indecent material to a minor, a class E felony;
- Endangering the welfare of a child, a class A misdemeanor;
After the court issued an order of protection for the victim, Reed was arraigned at the Onondaga Centralized Arraignment Court and granted a pre-trial release…
