NORTH LIBERTY, Iowa (KCRG) – The first phase of the Forevergreen Road extension broke ground Wednesday, launching a years-in-the-making project that officials say will improve traffic flow between Coralville and North Liberty.
The $20 million project is backed by $2.5 million in federal funding. Once complete, the extension will connect the roundabout near North Central Junior High to North Liberty Road Northeast.
Travel time could drop significantly
North Liberty Mayor Chris Hoffman said the extension will cut travel time between the two communities.
The current drive from North Liberty Road to North Central Junior High takes about eight minutes. Hoffman said that same trip could take just two to three minutes once the extension is complete…
