Proposed task force would advise Fort Worth leaders, council on data center regulations

With a temporary moratorium under consideration, Fort Worth City Council members are discussing the idea of a community-led task force to advise them on how to best regulate data centers.

Council member Jeanette Martinez proposed the task force as a way to “empower the community in the data center conversation,” she said in a news release Tuesday. Two other council members told the Fort Worth Report they support the proposal, which would require approval by a majority of the council.

“I firmly believe that our city must reconcile industrial growth with community oversight,” the release from Martinez’s office read. “As the data center industry evolves, it is imperative that we take necessary measures to understand how emerging infrastructure can impact Fort Worth.”…
