A three-alarm fire erupted at a sprawling commercial building in Vernon, prompting a response from 150 firefighters who battled the blaze for more than 90 minutes before getting it under control.
The fire began shortly before 3:30 p.m. at a structure in the 4600 block of Hampton Street, just southeast of the intersection of Pacific Boulevard and Santa Fe Avenue, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department. Flames shot through the roof of the single-story building amid heavy smoke as firefighters arrived at the scene.
