A downtown Zionsville property that burned July 10 and is subject to an active arson investigation was wrapped up in a years-long dispute between the former owner’s family members and his friends.
Drew Kogan owned the former Kogan Antiques and Lighting store at 195 S. Main St., until his death in 2022. He was 63. Kogan owned more than 78 percent of the historic property, acquired through annual deeds from his mother Helen Kogan. Drew Kogan was also the trustee of a trust that owned the other 21 percent of the property, which was transferred from Helen Kogan upon her death.
Investigators believe the fire was intentionally set and antisemitism could have been a motivating factor. The fire originated with the lighting of an Israeli flag on the south side of the building. The flag, along with an American flag, had flown at the building for many years…
