Baton Rouge man accused in multiple burglaries arrested after marshals, police close in on Government Street home

BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) – Baton Rouge police and U.S. Marshals surrounded a home on Government Street Thursday before taking 50-year-old Timothy Tyler into custody.

U.S. Deputy Marshal Mark Canning said Tyler was wanted in connection with multiple burglaries, including several storage unit thefts.

Prior arrests and stolen property

Authorities say Tyler has a history of theft-related arrests and that stolen property has previously been found at the Government Street home.

East Feliciana Parish District Attorney Sam Daquilla said that in 2022, law enforcement recovered property stolen from a Clinton man’s house months after the man died. Daquilla said Tyler pleaded no contest in that case and later violated his probation.
