ST. LOUIS — A former Missouri adult day care provider has been charged with allegedly defrauding the state’s Medicaid program out of almost $1.5 million by billing for services that prosecutors say were never given.
According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Missouri, 63-year-old Tony King operated Agape Love Adult Day Care LLC, a provider in Missouri’s Adult Day Care Waiver program, which offers care and supervision for older adults and people with disabilities as an alternative to nursing homes.
Prosecutors allege King submitted fraudulent reimbursement claims to Missouri Medicaid from at least February 2021 through March 2026. They allege that Agape billed for 10 hours of care a day while only actually providing about half of that. The indictment also says the company tried to get reimbursement for services on days when some participants weren’t even there, or were in the hospital.
