JOHNSON COUNTY, Kan. (KCTV) – A cyclospora outbreak in Johnson County has grown to 143 cases, up 48 in one week, as federal officials continue to focus on lettuce from Taylor Farms as the main source of spread.
Last week, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration added Kansas to a list of states affected by shredded iceberg lettuce served at Taco Bell restaurants. Federal officials have identified Taylor Farms as the main source of the outbreak.
No local farms linked to outbreak
Anthony Reardon, a horticulture small farms extension agent for Johnson County through K-State Extension, said there have been no cyclospora issues tied to any local farms or growers in Johnson County. He said people should feel comfortable buying produce from national or local suppliers.
