The city of Chelsea officially began the process of taking ownership of the park on Main St., named the Holmes Family Park, at the July 27 city council meeting.
“Chelsea and Main Street Park Alliance (MSPA) entered into an agreement whereby MSPA would finance and build a park in the City of Chelsea and then transfer the park to the City,” Resolution 2026-39 reads.
The Holmes Family Park has been underway for several years now. Formerly a Federal Screw Works property, the land was purchased by MSPA in 2022 in hopes of building a community park for Chelsea and the surrounding area.
