TALLAHASSEE, FL — Most of Florida is under an extreme heat warning, heat watch, or heat advisory as forecast heat index values climb as high as 115 degrees.
The state has already seen record-setting readings, including Tampa’s hottest air temperature on record and a heat index that matched an all-time mark.
What officials say the numbers mean
Warning coverage is broad and changes by day. Alerts stretch across the Panhandle, Big Bend, North Florida, Northeast Florida, and parts of east-central Florida, including the Orlando area and points north.
