Refurbished park opens in SW Charlotte courtesy of $4 million in ARPA funds

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — Southwest Charlotte has a new, upgraded park.

Mecklenburg County officially reopened Archdale Park Tuesday with a ribbon-cutting ceremony, marking the completion of extensive renovations. The park sits on 16.6 acres park on Archdale Drive a half-mile west of South Boulevard.

Residents can now enjoy the park’s expanded and revitalized basketball courts, playground spaces, picnic shelters and walkways. New amenities include a multipurpose field, meadow and wetland features, seating, and an outdoor fitness station.

Archdale Park sits in an area of Charlotte with few recreation options, and Mecklenburg County also added parking to make the park more accessible…
