Suspect in custody after multiple garage, trash fires investigated as suspected arson in Louisville

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — Louisville firefighters responded to a series of fires Thursday night that damaged multiple detached garages and burned trash throughout an alley in the city’s south end. Investigators said a suspect is now in custody, and the case is being investigated as suspected arson.

According to Donovan Sims, a spokesperson for the Louisville Fire Department, firefighters were dispatched around 8:04 p.m. to reports of multiple fires in the alley near the 200 block of Ottawa Avenue. Firefighters arrived about five minutes later to find several detached garages engulfed in flames, along with multiple trash fires burning nearby.

Crews launched an aggressive attack on the fires while also searching the surrounding alley for additional spot fires. Residents in the area helped firefighters identify several smaller fires, allowing crews to extinguish them before they could spread…
