Old Sac, new rules: Police set waterfront traffic zone after stabbing

(FOX40.COM) — The Old Sacramento waterfront will be largely closed to drivers on late weekend evenings as crime concerns grow in the wake of a late-night stabbing that injured five.

The new traffic management plan, announced Thursday by the Sacramento Police Department, will take effect this week. Under the plan, motorist access to Old Sacramento will be limited after 10 p.m., on Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings.

Drivers will be able to access 2nd Street from both Capitol Mall and I Street, the police department said in a news release, but access beyond that point will be restricted, including on Front Street and Firehouse Alley…
