ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – Showers and storms are impacting parts of New Mexico this morning. mainly in far northeast New Mexico, where one heavy storm has prompted an Areal Flood Advisory until 6:30AM for the northeast corner of Colfax County.
Isolated storms have circled around southeast New Mexico, and a line of showers/storms have dropped along our border with Texas near Roosevelt County and Lea County. A couple of spotty showers/storms have been impacting parts near the Albuquerque metro, and southwest New Mexico but continue to weaken.
A rare August “cold” front (it’ll be more of a less hot front) will push through New Mexico between today and tomorrow. This frontal system will provide the lift for robust thunderstorms. High-res model guidance continues to be aggressive with the initial formation of these storms in the Sangre de Cristo’s early in the afternoon and surging to the south and east throughout the day. The newest timeline is roughly from 1 p.m. – midnight tonight. Roswell has been taken out of the outline, but there may still be a strong storm nearby or over Roswell late this evening…
