STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Mayor Zohran Mamdani announced the appointment of Jennifer Jones Austin as chair of the New York City Civilian Complaint Review Board, filling a position that has been vacant since 2020.
Jones Austin will lead the nation’s largest independent police oversight entity, a key part of the Mamdani administration’s plan to build public safety through accountability and community trust.
