GREENSBORO, N.C. (WGHP) — Most people know Jim Dodson either from his books on golf or as the man who runs Greensboro’s very successful O. Henry magazine.
But he did a lot of other work as well.
“I have a 55-year-old journalism career behind me, and I wrote a lot of history about the South,” Dodson said. “I covered the race movements in the deep South and the Klan rallies. … I have a very checkered history as I like to say.”
Speaking of history, his family has some history involving what may have been America’s most important highway, but it wasn’t a highway as we think of it today. It started as a muddy ribbon of a road that ran from the quays of the Philadelphia harbors down to the red clay of Augusta, Georgia.
