JACKSONVILLE, Fla – Every driver in Florida passes through intersections each day trusting the road was designed to keep them safe. For Jacksonville residents, that trust has been misplaced for an entire decade; the city has ranked among America’s five most dangerous intersection metros year after year. A decade of federal crash data exposes a 17-fold safety gap between Jacksonville and North Port, the safest city in the entire country, and the difference has nothing to do with chance.
The study by Kuzyk Law examined 1,245 intersection crashes across nine Florida metros from 2014 to 2023. Jacksonville’s crash rate is over five times higher than Miami’s, while North Port has the safest intersections in the U.S. Florida’s roads are selectively dangerous.
