John Ramsey talks about his ALS diagnosis

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) – John Ramsey has been a well-known radio and television host in Louisville for more than 30 years. Recently, he received a diagnosis he never expected.

In 2024, a neurologist diagnosed Ramsey with ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis), a progressive neurodegenerative disease that causes muscle weakness and paralysis, eventually weakening the muscles responsible for breathing.

“At the time, I didn’t know much about it. I said, ‘ALS?’” Ramsey recalled. “His bedside manner wasn’t the best, and he said, ‘Yeah, it’ll kill you. It’s terminal.’”…
