NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — Water utilities across the country have received cybersecurity threat alerts after Minnesota water systems were hit.
Here in Middle Tennessee, many local water utilities, all the way from Metro Water Services to Brentwood to Murfreesboro, have confirmed they received the federal cyber threat alert.
“First, if all the federal agencies are involved, it means they are following up their monitoring,” Middle Tennessee State University Associate Professor of Information Systems and Analytics Sam Zaza told News 2. “They are actually adding information about it, and they are communicating with the water utilities on what to do and how to defend against those cyber attacks. So I know it sounds bad that we are under attack, but also it is good that the federal agencies are involved.”…
