Water main break creates another sinkhole in downtown Syracuse street

Syracuse, N.Y. — A water main break caused a city street to partially cave in this morning.

An eight-inch water main below East Jefferson Street near the Onondaga County Courthouse broke, causing the street to buckle.

The water main was quickly repaired, restoring water to the one building that lost it, said city hall spokeswoman Sol Munoz. The street will remain closed to cars and pedestrian until crews can repair the road…
