LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Arkansas Attorney General Tim Griffin is joining 49 other attorneys general to call on federal officials to crack down on robocalls and strengthen enforcement rules.
Griffin is asking the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to strengthen its “Know Your Customer” (KYC) rules. Under KYC, phone companies are required to verify the identities of callers using their networks and understand the nature of the businesses those customers operate, he added.

The AG said his office regularly hears from Arkansans about unwanted robocalls and fraudulent text messages. He pointed to the nearly 29.6 billion scam robocalls and text messages Americans received last year, which he said contributed to nearly $2 billion in losses.
