RENO, Nev. (KOLO) — In the wake of a deadly shootout at a Seattle food festival that killed three people, Reno police are outlining the security measures in place for WingFest.
Officer Hunter Mercurio said the department is currently conducting active shooter training agency-wide and that officers are prepared to respond to threats at large public gatherings.
Bomb dogs and drones deployed at event
Reno police operate a drone-as-first-responder program, with drones deployed throughout the event.
“Before events we do have bomb dogs and they’ll sweep the whole event to make sure there are no bombs,” Mercurio said. “Those dogs will also be deployed periodically throughout the event.”…
