CASTLETON, N.Y. (NEWS10)– As we continue to track the aftermath of this week’s storm, one local woman shares a glimmer of hope amidst devastation. NEWS10 first brought you this story on Wednesday, when a 300 year old historic grist mill was overtaken by the current from the Muitzes Kill. Today, we’re sharing what was lost inside.
As severe weather caused water to rush through the structure, it was torn down by the very thing that once gave it life. Laura Lee Ross had been renting the mill as an art studio since the early 2000s. Inside of the nearly collapsed structure, is her life’s work.
“I’m sort of in shock,” Ross explained. “That’s why I’m singing that Johnny Cash song three feet high and rising.”
