Lake Winnipesaukee restaurant fire: Tewksbury fire captain credited with helping prevent tragedy

TEWKSBURY — A longtime Tewksbury firefighter is being credited with help­ing avert a potential tra­gedy after a floating res­taurant caught fire on Lake Winnipesaukee over the weekend.

According to a report by WMUR-TV, Tewksbury Fire Captain Dave Carney, a 31-year veteran of the Tewksbury Fire Depart­ment, was enjoying a day at the lake with his wife, Lisa, when he noticed something unusual aboard The Dive, a popular floating restaurant.

“It wasn’t French fries. It wasn’t hamburgers,” Car­ney told WMUR. “It was wood burning, which I thought was the structure itself on fire.”…
