CLEVELAND – The Cleveland Guardians have made a roster move, acquiring outfielder Blake Perkins and right-handed pitcher Craig Yoho from the Milwaukee Brewers in exchange for catcher Bo Naylor and right-hander Codi Heuer.
Following the trade, Naylor and Heuer were added to the Brewers’ 40-man roster and assigned to their Triple-A affiliate in Nashville. The Guardians have yet to announce where Perkins and Yoho will join their organization.
Bo Naylor, 26, has spent his entire professional career with Cleveland but has struggled at the plate over the last three seasons. After the Guardians brought in Patrick Bailey from San Francisco, Naylor was optioned to Triple-A Columbus, where he hit .225 with seven home runs in 45 games.
Codi Heuer, 30, is in his first season with Cleveland and has split time between the major league club and Triple-A. Heuer appeared in eight games out of the bullpen for the Guardians, posting a 0-1 record with a 4.66 ERA.
On the Brewers’ side, Craig Yoho, 26, boasts an impressive 1.10 ERA in his minor league career. This season, he made three stints with Milwaukee, compiling a 2-0 record and a 3.15 ERA.
Blake Perkins, 29, has experience as a Gold Glove finalist two years ago and played in 121 games during that season. However, this year he has bounced between Milwaukee and Triple-A Nashville, hitting .157 in 55 games with the Brewers.
