Local Food Inspections July 27 – 31

The following establishments were inspected by the Madison County Health Department July 27-31.

Corner Market- Granite City

  • 1 (Pf) PIC is not present at the food establishment during all hours of operation; and/or is not a certified food manager; Reference 2-101.11 PIC did not ensure proper food safety duties were followed; and/or Food service employees and conditional employees are not informed of their responsibility to report health/activities related to disease to PIC; and/or PIC does not have procedures for employee allergen training/awareness; Reference 2-103.11 PIC did not demonstrate food safety knowledge. Reference 2-102.11 Provide enough Food Service Sanitation Managers with food safety knowledge including what and when to report illness and/or allergen training/awareness. PIC IS NOT A CFPM.
  • 2 (C) The food establishment is not under the operational supervision of a Certified Food Protection Manager that is present at appropriate times. Provide an adequate number of staff with approved training. Reference 2-102.12. ESTABLISHMENT HAS 2 CFPM LISTED BUT PIC STATES ONE OF THEM NO LONGER WORKS HERE. FOLLOW UP 8/17.
  • 23 (Pf) Food prepared and held in a food establishment for more than 24 hours must be clearly marked to indicate the date or day by which the food must be consumed on the premises, sold, or discarded when held at a temperature of 41F or less for a maximum of 7 days.Reference 3-501.17. PIZZA TOPPINGS HAVE NO DATES.
  • 38 (C) Exterior door allows access for pests. Exterior doors shall be: 1) self-closing, 2) solid and tight fitting, 3) limited to designed use. Reference 6-202.15. 38 (Pf) The premises shall be maintained free of insects, rodents and other pests. Reference 6-501.111. FRONT DOOR HAS GAP UNDERNEATH. EMPLOYEE HAS USED FOAM SPRAY TO CLOSE UP ENTRY/EXIT POINT IN CEILING AND HAS USE DUCT TAPE ABOVE PIZZA STATION. GLUE TRAPS ON SHELVES AND UNDER SHELVES CONTINUE TO SHOW ACTIVITY PRESENCE. WITNESSED LIVE SMALL ROACH RUNNING BY TOILET. SPOKE WITH OWNER ABOUT LICENSED PEST CONTROL IS NEEDED.
  • 50 (Pf) Water under pressure must be provided to all fixtures and equipment requiring water connections to operate. Install/repair water supply. Reference 5-103.12. 50 (Pf) Inadequate hot water is available to all fixtures. Hot water system must have an adequate capacity to meet peak hot water demands throughout the facility at all times of operation. Hot water system must be repaired or upgraded to provide an adequate supply of hot water at all times. Reference 5-103.11 . NO WATER PRESSURE AT RESTROOM AND MOP SINK. NO HOT OR COLD WATER AT SAME SINKS.
  • 51 ( C) Plumbing needs repair. Repair according to Illinois and local plumbing code. Reference 5-205.15. NO WATER PRESSURE IN RESTROOM AND MOP SINK.
  • 55 (C) Physical facilities shall be maintained in good repair. Reference 6-501.11. FLOOR TILE BROKEN & MISSING THROUGHOUT. BASE COVING BY STORAGE RACK AND BEHIND RESTROOM SINK.
