Southbound Highway 85 near Sedalia reopens after grass fire prompted closure

Highway 85 reopened Saturday afternoon after a grass fire prompted the closure of the highway’s southbound lanes earlier in the afternoon.

Douglas County sheriff’s office officials said the lanes were closed while sheriff’s deputies and crews from West Douglas Fire Protection District, South Metro Fire and Castle Rock Fire worked to contain the fire around 1:30 p.m. Officials announced the highway had reopened around 2:15 p.m.
