WATERTOWN, N.Y. (WWNY/Gray News) – A New York Lyft driver who gave a murderer a ride believes a state trooper saved him from becoming the killer’s next victim.
Larry Keech was driving for the ride-hailing app Lyft six years ago when he accepted a fare from Watertown to Massena — a trip he said put him on a life-changing journey that only ended in July.

“I pulled up to the Walmart in Watertown, and the passenger was there. I got out and addressed him as Omar, as the app had said,” Keech said.
But “Omar” was actually Ayub Guled, a man wanted for murder and attempted murder in Miami, Florida. When Keech picked him up in October 2020, he had no idea that Guled had killed a man the month before by shooting him in the face at close range…
