Homewood, Ala. (WBRC) – A tenant at the Park at Buckingham apartment complex has filed a lawsuit against the property’s owners and managers, days after the City of Homewood condemned one of its buildings.
Joshua Young is suing the owners and property managers at the complex. Young said he began noticing black mold growing from his bathroom ceiling shortly after moving in in 2024, and that he reported the issue to management but said nothing was done.

The lawsuit also claims Young “encountered rats in his unit, water leaks, sewage backups, stray dogs, trash left in public area and repeated fire alarms that sounded for extended periods before being addressed or ceasing.”
Court documents say on July 22, Young found a bright pink danger notice posted outside Building 11 stating the building had been deemed unsafe for human occupancy by the City of Homewood Fire Marshal’s Office.
