EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) – A retired teacher and veteran of the U.S. Navy celebrated an incredible milestone in Evansville on Sunday.
Thelma Jean Curl, 106, celebrated her birthday surrounded by family and friends at River Bend Nursing & Rehabilitation.
Members of the Evansville Wartime Museum were in attendance to present her with a special certificate thanking her for her service and honoring her life and legacy. They also had a birthday card and a gift to present to Thelma.
Thelma joined the Navy in 1943, serving as a control tower specialist. She went on to attend Park College and became a history teacher in 1950…
