Police investigate shooting on Syracuse’s South Side

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) — A man was shot in the back multiple times on the South Side of Syracuse early Sunday morning.

According to a statement from the Syracuse Police Department, around 1:08 a.m., police went to Smart City Market on 500 Oakwood Avenue after a ShotSpotter alert detected multiple shots fired.

When officers arrived, they found a 59-year-old man suffering from gunshot wounds to his back. An American Medical Response Ambulance brought the man to University Hospital to treat his injuries…
