MANATEE COUNTY, Fla. – With the first day of school coming Monday for Manatee County students, new traffic safety measures are going into place across the county.
Crews have raised some crosswalks to aid in traffic calming and help students walking navigate the crosswalks safely.

The idea is simple: Raise the crosswalk so drivers have to slow down, while also making the crossing much harder to miss.
